The Happiest Place on Earth
Just 15 minutes from my college campus, Disneyland became a constant in my Southern California life — a place I slipped into for an hour or two at a time, often just for a favorite snack or a single ride. Having visited well over 100 times, I’ve come to see it not just as a theme park, but as a timeless escape where people of all ages can experience a little magic.
Orange County FAQs
Orange County is known for its beautiful coastline, relaxed luxury, and quintessential Southern California lifestyle. From iconic beach towns like Laguna Beach and Newport Beach to exceptional dining, charming neighborhoods, and world-famous attractions like Disneyland, it offers a coastal escape that feels both elevated and approachable.
Absolutely. Sometimes overshadowed by it’s larger metropolitan neighbors, Los Angeles and San Diego, Orange County delivers some of the same Southern California highlights — stunning beaches, excellent restaurants, and stylish stays — but with a more polished, laid-back atmosphere that makes it especially appealing for a relaxing getaway.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the most convenient option, located in the heart of Orange County and just minutes from many coastal destinations. Long Beach Airport (LGB) is another excellent choice, while Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) offers the most flight options but typically requires a longer drive to get to the OC.
Yes — Orange County is largely car-dependent, making a rental car the easiest way to explore multiple beach towns and neighborhoods. However, once you arrive in walkable areas like Laguna Beach or parts of Newport Beach, you can comfortably spend the day on foot. Uber and Lyft are widely available in Orange County if you’d prefer not to rent a car.
Orange County is truly a year-round destination thanks to its mild coastal climate. That said, late spring through early fall brings the warmest beach days, while September and October are local favorites for fewer crowds, golden light, and some of the best weather of the year!
The best place to stay depends on the experience you’re after. Laguna Beach is ideal for a scenic, romantic getaway with dramatic coastal views, while Newport Beach blends classic seaside charm with upscale dining and shopping. Choosing a hotel near the water is almost always worth it.
Orange County can be as relaxed or as refined as you choose. While luxury resorts and oceanfront dining can elevate a trip, there are plenty of approachable hotels, casual eateries, and free outdoor experiences that make it possible to visit at a variety of price points.
Yes — Disneyland is located in Anaheim on the northern edge of Orange County. Many visitors pair a park visit with time along the coast, creating a trip that balances high-energy days with laid-back beachside relaxation.
