When we first decided we wanted to celebrate our wedding in Italy, Tuscany was initially at the forefront of our plans. I mean, it’s what comes to mind when you think quintessential Italian countryside, right? I won’t lie, it was for us, too — mostly out of familiarity from prior trips, and venues we’d seen posted about on social media, naturally. So, before we landed on Puglia for our destination wedding in June 2025, we deeply researched the stunning venue options in a few more familiar-to-us regions — Tuscany, Umbria (the least familiar, alongside Puglia), and the Amalfi Coast.
I am so glad we chose Puglia, because it was the best adventure of our lives, and truly was so us without even knowing beforehand — but, if you are someone who is set on a Tuscan wedding, there is no shortage of amazing options (seriously, that’s why this post is so long).
From coastal Tuscany (yes, the region borders the Tyrrhenian Sea, a part of the Mediterranean) to the deep countryside that borders Umbria, you can find just about anything for your wedding size and style. Here are (in my personal opinion) the best of the best wedding venues in Tuscany from all the spots I researched, reached out to, and have followed on Instagram — mainly as dream hotels to stay at — far before I even had a ring on my finger.
Borgo Petrognano – Poggibonsi
This property. Wow. It is something special and absolutely stunning, both inside and out. Tucked into the rolling hills between Florence and Siena, Borgo Petrognano feels like a quintessential slice of the Tuscan countryside. The property is made up of beautiful, warm stone buildings, cypress-lined paths, and unreal views over vineyards and olive groves — the kind of setting that immediately transports you and your guests into the dreamy, sun-soaked version of Tuscany everyone imagines.
What makes Borgo Petrognano especially appealing for weddings is its intimate feel. While undeniably elegant, it still gives off a relaxed, unfussy feel, with a layout that lends itself beautifully to multi-day celebrations. It’s the type of place where guests can wander the grounds, linger by the pool, and truly settle into the experience. Compared to some of Tuscany’s more grandiose properties,

This is the Tuscany of golden fields, winding country roads, and quiet moments that feel almost movie-like. The borgo itself is elegant yet understated, blending beautifully into its surroundings rather than overpowering them.

Borgo Santo Pietro – Palazzetto
Borgo Santo Pietro sits firmly at the very top end of Tuscany’s luxury wedding venues (and on my personal bucket list of Italian stays), offering a level of refinement and service that’s truly out-of-this-world — if you don’t believe me, it’s consistently landing on top travel lists, like the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List.
. The estate is lush, romantic, and impossibly beautiful — with manicured gardens, cypress-lined paths, and historic stone buildings surrounded by acres of rolling countryside. I didn’t entertain Borgo Santo Pietro for long, knowing it was far out of my budget, but if you’re willing and able, I imagine that weddings here are highly curated, immersive experiences, with incredible attention to detail. To me, this is not a venue for casual or large-scale celebrations — it’s for couples who want an intimate, high-touch wedding where every moment feels considered, elevated, and deeply personal.

Borgo Stomennano – Monteriggioni
Borgo Stomennano feels like stepping into a Tuscan dream that hasn’t been touched by the current day. Located just outside Monteriggioni, this historic estate is defined by its grand villa, frescoed interiors, formal gardens, and beautiful countryside views — elegant, romantic, and undeniably old-world in the best possible way.
Unlike some of Tuscany’s more polished resort-style venues, Borgo Stomennano leans heavily into history and atmosphere. It is perfect for couples who love classic European elegance and want their celebration to feel timeless. While it’s unquestionably luxurious, it’s a quieter, more refined kind of luxury.

Casa Cornacchi – Bucine
Set in the rolling hills of Tuscany’s Val d’Ambra countryside, Casa Cornacchi blends rustic charm with classic Tuscan elegance. The property’s traditional stone buildings and lush gardens create an idyllic backdrop framed by olive groves, vineyards, and cypress-lined pathways — the kind of setting that feels like Tuscany you see in the movies. What makes Casa Cornacchi appealing for weddings is its authentic yet elevated character. It isn’t hyper-luxury like some other properties, but it strikes a lovely balance between refined and relaxed.
Best for: Medium-sized destination weddings, couples seeking a rustic-elegant Tuscany experience, and celebrations that feel personal and scenic rather than formal or ultra-luxurious.

Castello di Vicarello – Cinigiano
Castello di Vicarello is a real Tuscan castle wedding venue — not just castle-inspired, but an actual medieval castle that has been restored into a boutique property overlooking vineyards, olive groves, and the beautiful rolling hills of Tuscany. The spaces feel romantic and timeless, with stone walls, lush gardens, and beautiful terraces that make for gorgeous ceremonies, dinners under the stars, and unforgettable photo moments.
There’s a definite storybook quality here: think candlelit dinners in historic courtyards, aperitifs on terraces at sunset, and sweeping views that stretch over the Maremma countryside. While it’s perfect for intimate celebrations hosted completely on-site, the gardens and lawn areas are also spacious enough to accommodate larger receptions.
Best for: Castle weddings with historic charm, couples after a memorable Tuscan experience.
Castelfalfi – Montaione
Castelfalfi is not just a venue — it’s an entire Tuscan village turned luxury resort. This property is true Tuscan luxury and offers a rare mix of historic charm and modern, five-star resort amenities. With multiple ceremony locations, restaurants, and accommodation options spread throughout the property, weddings here can be exactly what you envision and more. It’s undeniably luxury-focused, but in a more contemporary, resort-style way compared to Tuscany’s smaller, historic properties. It also landed on Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2025.

Hotel Il Pellicano – Porto Ercole
Perched above the Tyrrhenian Sea on the Monte Argentario peninsula, Hotel Il Pellicano is one of Italy’s most iconic coastal properties — glamorous, timeless, and beyond chic. I knew it was well beyond my budget, so I never really looked into what a wedding would cost here, or what was included, but if you have a more luxury-wedding-driven budget, it would be something incredibly memorable and magical for everyone involved. This is la dolce vita bottled up in a beautiful location: terraced gardens overlooking the water, sun-bleached stone, salt air, and that unmistakable sense of relaxed luxury Pellicano has become famous for.
Best for: Ultra-luxury destination weddings, fashion-forward couples, intimate celebrations with an iconic coastal setting.
Quick Facts
- Location: Porto Ercole, Monte Argentario peninsula, southern Tuscany

La Foce – Chianciano Terme
Odds are, you’ve probably stumbled across a wedding photo or video at La Foce while scrolling through Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest. That’s because La Foce is one of Tuscany’s most romantic and historically significant garden estates, set in the heart of the Val d’Orcia. Best known for its extraordinary Renaissance-style gardens and sweeping views over the valley, this venue feels elegant and about pure atmosphere — a setting that feels timeless, refined, and unmistakably luxurious in Italy.

Lupaia – Torrita di Siena
Lupaia is a beautifully restored boutique retreat tucked into the hills just outside Montepulciano, offering incredible views over the Val d’Orcia. Intimate, serene, and undeniably luxurious, it is more like a private countryside hideaway than a traditional wedding venue — ideal for couples who want their celebration to feel exclusive, elevated, and deeply personal.
While Lupaia was too small for what we personally needed in terms of on-site accommodations, it’s an exceptional option for smaller weddings where the priority is experience and atmosphere. Max’s family stayed here during his graduation trip in 2019 and absolutely loved it, which speaks volumes about the warmth, service, and overall feel of the property.
Best for: Intimate luxury weddings, small guest counts, couples wanting an ultra-refined countryside escape.
Quick Facts

- Wedding Guest Count (Maximum): Best suited for very small, intimate celebrations (often under 40 guests)
Villa Cetinale – Sovicille
Villa Cetinale is one of Tuscany’s most breathtaking and iconic wedding settings (many celebrities and Instagram personalities have married here) — a historic Baroque villa set within formal Italian gardens, cypress-lined roads and pathways, and manicured terraces that feel like something out of a dream. The combination of grand architecture and unreal landscape design creates a visually unforgettable canvas for weddings, with every angle worthy of photography and every space steeped in Tuscan elegance.
This is a venue that requires commitment — not just in terms of logistics but in the experience itself. Villa Cetinale typically requires a multi-night buyout, often with a minimum length of stay (commonly around a week), which is perfect for couples who truly want a wedding retreat. That said, that same requirement can feel like a lot of time to ask of guests. But, the venue has also captured global attention: in 2024, Millie Bobby Brown & Jake Bongiovi chose Villa Cetinale for their wedding, which has brought even more spotlight to its beauty and prestige.
Quick Facts
- Location: Countryside near Sovicille, outside Siena
- Nearest Airports: Florence (FLR) — about 1.5 hours; Pisa (PSA) — about 2.5 hours; Rome (FCO) — about 3 hours

- Wedding Guest Count (Maximum): Best for small to mid-sized weddings when hosting onsite; larger guest counts generally require coordination for off-site accommodations and logistics
Villa Gamberaia – Settignano
Villa Gamberaia is one of the most celebrated garden estates in all of Italy, perched in the hills just outside Florence with jaw-dropping views over the city and the surrounding countryside. Known for its extraordinary Renaissance-inspired gardens, terraces, and water features, the setting feels elegant, architectural, and incredibly refined — a true masterpiece of landscape design!
Best for: Garden-focused weddings, couples seeking a historic and elegant setting near Florence, and celebrations centered on scenery and design.
Quick Facts
- Location: Hills of Settignano, just outside Florence
- Nearest Airports: Florence (FLR) — about 30 minutes; Pisa (PSA) — about 1.5 hours

Villa Grabau – Lucca
Villa Grabau is one of the most elegant and romantic historic villas in Tuscany, set just outside the city walls of Lucca. This is a venue that strikes a beautiful balance between old-world grandeur and accessibility. Because of its proximity to Lucca, Villa Grabau works well for destination weddings where guests are staying off-site in town or nearby villas, rather than committing to a full estate buyout. It’s no surprise it’s become a favorite among couples seeking a classic Italian villa wedding that feels timeless rather than trendy.
Funny enough, a friend of mine (not super close, but someone I adore) got married here in September 2025 — and it only confirmed what a special setting it truly is.
Best for: Elegant villa weddings, couples who love classic architecture and gardens, celebrations centered around a beautiful setting without a multi-day stay requirement for large numbers of guests.
Quick Facts

Villa Medicea di Lilliano – Grassina
Villa Medicea di Lilliano is a stunning historic estate set in the hills just south of Florence, known for its manicured gardens, vineyards, and panoramic views over the Tuscan countryside. The grounds are undeniably beautiful in a not-overdone way. This venue was one of my favorite Tuscany contenders purely from a setting perspective. The gardens are gorgeous and feel very “Tuscany,” striking a nice balance between elegance and ease.
While it checked many boxes visually, we ultimately weren’t fully sold. And while I don’t remember exactly why, looking back, it likely came down to logistics and availability rather than the venue itself (plus our desire to move forward with venues in Puglia). When you’re planning a destination wedding, timing, flexibility, and overall flow matter just as much as beauty, and sometimes a place can be incredible but not quite right for your specific plans, and that’s okay!
Best for: Garden weddings near Florence, couples drawn to historic estates with vineyard views, and elegant outdoor-focused celebrations.
Quick Facts
- Location: Grassina, in the hills just outside Florence
- Nearest Airports: Florence (FLR) — about 30 minutes; Pisa (PSA) — about 1.5 hours
- Nearest Town(s): Grassina (5 minutes), Florence (20 minutes)
- Accommodation: Limited on-site accommodation; most guests stay in Florence or nearby towns
- Wedding Guest Count (Maximum): Well-suited for mid-sized weddings, often up to around 120–150 guests for outdoor events
Villa Montanare – Cortona
Villa Montanare is one of those venues that feels effortlessly beautiful — a historic stone villa perched in the hills near Cortona, surrounded by olive groves, cypress trees, and gorgeous countryside views. It’s understated in the best way: elegant without being flashy, romantic without trying too hard, and perfectly at home in its Tuscan surroundings.
I loved everything about this venue — the setting, the architecture, the overall vibe — except for one thing: it was simply too small for the kind of celebration we envisioned. That said, for couples planning a more intimate destination wedding, Villa Montanare is truly special. It’s the kind of place that feels like a private Tuscan dream, where every detail already feels beautiful without needing much added at all. If anyone chooses this for a mini destination wedding and wants to invite me… I’d happily come see it in person!
Best for: Intimate destination weddings, small guest counts, couples seeking effortless elegance in the Tuscan countryside.
- Location: Hills near Cortona, in eastern Tuscany
- Nearest Airports: Florence (FLR) — about 1.5 hours; Rome (FCO) — about 2.5 hours
- Nearest Town(s): Cortona (10–15 minutes)
- Accommodation: On-site accommodation for a small group of guests (approximately 20–25 people)
- Wedding Guest Count (Maximum): Best suited for very intimate celebrations, generally under 40 guests
TL;DR: Tuscany Wedding Venues at a Glance
If you’re skimming (no judgment — I do the same), here’s a quick way to sort Tuscany wedding venues by overall price tier, scale, and experience. These groupings aren’t about exact budgets, but rather what kind of commitment and experience each venue typically requires:

We love everything about Tuscany, but when it came down to deciding on the region of Italy we wanted to hold our very own destination wedding, the adventure (and value) of Puglia kept drawing us in. Tuscany is timeless, elegant, and undeniably beautiful — but Puglia felt a little less expected and better aligned with the kind of experience we wanted to create for our guests.
That said, Tuscany will always hold a place on our wedding-venue dream list. If you’re drawn to historic villas, iconic landscapes, refined gardens, and a wide range of venue styles — from ultra-luxury estates to intimate countryside retreats — it’s hard to imagine a more romantic setting for a destination wedding. Ultimately, the “right” choice comes down to how you want your celebration to feel, the experience you want your guests to have, and the story you want your wedding to tell.
