The Most Luxurious Hotels in Puglia, Italy: 4 Iconic Stays Worth the Splurge
Last Updated on February 26, 2026 by Lauren Belzer Sanford
It’s no secret that Puglia has completely stolen my heart — and honestly, it could take every last dollar in my bank account, and I’d have no regrets. When it comes to luxury hotels in Puglia, Italy, the options are as varied as the region itself: rustic masserie, design-forward palazzi, and resort villages that feel like their own little world. My full guide to where to stay in Puglia covers a little bit of everything — but if you’re dreaming up a trip that leans toward the more luxurious side of things, this is the shortlist you want.
These four are among the most luxurious hotels in Puglia — the ones everyone whispers about, bookmarks for someday, or saves for a milestone trip. Each one offers a different flavor of luxury, from resort-level grandeur to design-forward minimalism to iconic Italian palazzo glamour. But they all share one thing: they’re the kind of stays you don’t forget.
And if you’d like help planning your Puglia trip from start to finish, I also work with clients as a travel advisor — you can learn more here.
Borgo Egnazia – Savelletri di Fasano
If there is one luxury resort in Puglia that defines what this region is capable of, it’s Borgo Egnazia. Set between stunning Apulian olive groves and the unbelievably beautiful Adriatic Sea, this signature white-stone “village” is like stepping into a movie set — soft light, candlelit courtyards, and architectural details that make you want to wander for hours.
Suites and villas include private terraces, plunge pools, or walled gardens. If you’re looking for a resort-level experience with endless luxury that still encapsulates traditional Apulian charm, Egnazia is the place.
It is Puglia’s most famous splurge for a reason — I mean, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel got married here. If you want a “pinch me” stay, this is truly it. I’m personally dreaming of a Christmastime visit to experience its very own Christmas market and winter season magic.
Best for: Honeymoons, milestone celebrations, travelers seeking the definitive luxury Puglia experience.
Why it belongs on your list: It’s the gold standard — a celebrity-level stay with heart, history, and architecture that earns every bit of its reputation.
Masseria Torre Maizza – Savelletri di Fasano
Part of the iconic Rocco Forte Hotels collection, Masseria Torre Maizza blends modern sophistication with the soft, romantic charm of the Apulian countryside. Rocco Forte Hotels Puglia is well represented here — the entire property is polished and serene, pairing thoughtful design with warm, genuinely attentive hospitality.
Think: stylish suites opening into private gardens, a chic pool area surrounded by palms and white stone, a rooftop bar perfect for golden hour, and impeccable service from the moment you arrive. It’s luxurious in a more understated, effortless way than Borgo Egnazia — equally special, but with a more intimate boutique angle.
Best for: Boutique-hotel lovers, couples, design-forward travelers.
Why it belongs on your list: Modern, intimate, and beautifully executed — luxury with a lighter touch.
Palazzo Daniele – Gagliano del Capo
For the traveler who loves art, architecture, and refined minimalism, Palazzo Daniele is pure magic. Set inside an 1861 aristocratic palazzo in the heart of Salento — the southern tip of Puglia — this hotel is like living inside a museum.
I didn’t make it this far south on our last trip (we squeezed in a day trip to Lecce, and that was as far south as we got), but this is the stay I keep coming back to in my mind — the one I’m already manifesting for a future return to Puglia. You know the phrase “photos don’t do it justice”? The photos of Palazzo Daniele are already stunning, so if they still don’t capture it, I’d probably pass out the moment I stepped inside.
A practical note: Palazzo Daniele sits deep in southern Puglia, so a stay here lends itself to slow, on-site relaxation and exploring the lesser-visited cities and beaches of the Salento region. If you’re hoping to use it as a home base for all of Puglia, it might not be your best option — but if you want to really sink into the south, it’s a dream. My guide to the top cities in Puglia can help you map out the region before you decide.
Best for: Creative travelers, architecture lovers, and anyone who values design as much as comfort.
Why it belongs on your list: One of the most distinctive hotels in southern Italy — staying here is like stepping into a living piece of art and history.
Paragon 700 Boutique Hotel & Spa – Ostuni
If the rest of this list represents countryside luxury, Paragon 700 brings that same level of indulgence into the White City of Ostuni — a city that sits at the very top of my list of special places in the world, practically engraved there. Ostuni is where we spent the most time during our Puglia trips, and it will always hold a piece of my heart. We got married just outside the city at a local masseria, so coming back here one day feels less like a “maybe” and more like a “when.”
Paragon 700 is an 18th-century restored palazzo, and the only red building in the White City — and every inch of it is dramatic, eclectic, and dripping with character. Think bold interiors, restored frescoes, soaring ceilings, curated vintage pieces, and moody atmospheric lighting that makes every room feel like a moment. As a boutique hotel in Ostuni, it’s genuinely one of a kind.
The garden and pool are rare finds for a city hotel (the property sits on the lower part of the city, just outside the historic center), and the subterranean spa — tucked inside an ancient cistern — is truly something worth experiencing.
If you want to explore everything Ostuni has to offer beyond the hotel, my Ostuni travel guide is a great place to start. And if you’re considering a different type of stay in the area, I also have a roundup of the best Airbnbs in Ostuni worth browsing.
Best for: Design lovers, couples, travelers who want a walkable city base without sacrificing luxury.
Why it belongs on your list: A truly unique stay with luxurious amenities and easy access to the best restaurants and bars in Ostuni.
Honorable Mention: VISTA Ostuni – Ostuni
One more Ostuni property worth keeping on your radar: VISTA Ostuni, which opened in the summer of 2025 — just after we got married in the White City. From everything I’ve seen, it’s already earning its place among the most exciting new luxury hotels in Puglia. Given how much I love Ostuni, it’s very high on my list for a future return, and I’ll be sure to share a full review when I do! Consider this an early bookmark.

Luxury looks a little different in every corner of Puglia — and that’s exactly what makes this region so endlessly special. From cinematic resort villages and iconic traditional masserie to minimalist design hotels and historic palazzi in the heart of a hilltop town, these four properties represent the very best of what southern Italy has to offer.
Personally, I tend to gravitate toward a simpler masseria stay — it just feels more true to the Puglia I fell in love with. But if you’re here for the iconic, the architectural, the kind of beautiful that stops you mid-breath — these are the stays worth dreaming about. And if you’re still in the planning stages, my complete guide to where to stay in Puglia and my roundup of the best masseria hotels in Puglia are great places to keep exploring.

Puglia is such a dream, and your selection of luxury hotels captures its essence perfectly! I’m particularly drawn to the authentic charm of the restored masserias—the blend of rustic stone with high-end amenities is just stunning. Your tips on Borgo Egnazia and the coastal views in Polignano a Mare are so inspiring for a high-end Italian getaway. Puglia’s slow-living vibe is exactly what a luxury escape should be. Thanks for the chic recommendations!
